Small Waist/Smooth Face

11 Jun

Just like being conscious about your waistline, guys you’re delusional and dismally mistaken if you think moisturizing is only vital for women. The reason why some of you look so old and crusty faced may be partly you being born that way. However, in the slight chance you were blessed with mediocre skin it may be due to poor skin care and harsh environmental elements.

With summer being in full effect the ozone pollution, sun rays and copious amounts of sweat escaping your body leaves your face dehydrated and sometimes irritable.

Having a great skin day which means INSTAGRAM SELFIES!!!!!

Summer is the time of year most people forgo facial moisturizers because they’re either unaware of its importance or think moisturizing is only reserved for winter.

We all want youthful looking skin and they key to that is keeping your body hydrated.

Most guys only know/worry about facial cleansers as a way to keep clear skin but there are more steps to healthy skin.

Your daily facial cleansers remove oil, dead skin cells, dirt and bacteria; aside from those positives it also strips the skin of needed hydration. Water is needed to keep the skin plump and smooth, whereas dry skin loses elasticity, making you prone to developing cracks and wrinkles prematurely.

Selecting the appropriate face moisturizer can be confusing also, moisturizers can stay on the skin for extended periods of time, and the wrong ones can cause pore-clogging.

I’m always urging my friends to invest in a good moisturizer not only does it replenish the skin but protects from ultraviolet rays. Some moisturizers evens skin tone, minimize pores and contains antioxidants.

4 Ways to shop for moisturizers.

Skin Type: Not all skin is made equally neither are moisturizers. Knowing what kind of skin you have will aid you in purchasing. 16 different skin types are divided into the following four categories: Dry or oily, Pigmented or non-pigmented, Wrinkled or tight, Sensitive or resistant. Each specific moisturizer will indicate its skin type.

Active Ingredients: This is the only time I will recommend fatty acids and oils. Shea butter’s rich texture hydrates without being oily. Green tea & grape seed extract has exceptional antioxidants. Silicone offers longer lasting protection. Glycerin retains the right amount of water to maintain balance in the skin. Sunscreen with at least a SPF 15 adequately safeguard against the sun.

Avoid: Do not buy moisturizers that are petroleum-based, because they are greasy and clog your pores. Avoid products that contain SD alcohol and formaldehyde both dry up your skin.

High-end vs. Over the Counter: Don’t let the price fool you $100 moisturizers are just as great as drug store $7 items. That’s why it’s important to know your skin type and its needs to find the active ingredient that will work best for your skin. Generic brand offers the same (sometimes better) results as the name brands. Remember, if you have sensitive skin, look out for fragrance/oil free options. Oily faces pick up noncomedogenic (non-clogging) formulas.

Personally I have oily skin and my favorite moisturizers are: Neutrogena Visibly Even, it reduces dark spots with a SPF of 30. It’s comes out thick but goes on light so I prefer to use it in the summer months. Aveeno Smart Essentials is oil-free, noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic also has a SPF of 30 however; it’s very heavy. I use it in the winter months when my skin is drier.

Yes, too many guys see moisturizing, and skincare in general, as only for women. What they will discover, however, is they will be more appealing to whom they intend to attract if they would take better care of their “crusty face,” to use your characterization of it. You offered very good recommendations for helping people to improve their skin. Many Black people need to heed your recommendation about avoiding petroleum-based moisturizers.
