Cookies You Wear Not Eat

29 Jul

Back in March I did a feature on San Diego, California based online store Fortune Cookie Clothing where I salivated and raved about their cool sweatshirts. Now they have another fresh delight of a new collection of tees the “Ross Alley Collection.”

These dope shirts pay homage to an historical area of San Francisco’s Chinese culture, more so the fortune cookie. If you’re anything like me or hate looking like a lard in great clothing you read the nutrition facts on everything from a box of crackers to the menu at your favorite restaurant. It’s always stellar when your most desired fashions has a bit of knowledge behind it. Black & white is very much in vogue right now; (if not always) it’s classic, reliable and somehow forever a standout.

I really like these shirts simple in detail but boss.

Ross Alley is the oldest Alley in San Francisco, located in the heart of Chinatown. San Francisco’s Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in North America, as well as the largest Chinese community outside of Asia. Chinatown is an enclave that continues to retain its own customs, languages, and places of worship.

Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company is located on Ross Alley, and was opened in 1962. They are notorious for their traditional flavored and chocolate covered fortune cookies. Visitors can observe workers using circular griddles to make fortune cookies, creating a sweet aroma throughout the alley.

“We wanted to pay tribute to this street for the influence it has on the brand. Ross Alley is a special place not only for the Asian community but more importantly to maintain magic behind the Fortune Cookie.”

-Sterling Jones, Owner
